The Tastes of Europe
I love being a Renaissance Woman...vino, art, vino, music, vino, pasta,
strolling the streets of history and more vino!

"Food for the Soul" - what does this really mean? I believe I found an answer to this question during this journey. Many of the tastings I had along the way reminded me of nurturing memories. The bratwurst in Germany reminded me of my father's love for German food. The seafood, especially octopus, made me think of my dear friends back home, who order octopus every time we dine out. The pizza reminded me of my brothers. And the Schneeballen (sugared pie crust rounds) in Rothenburg brought back memories of my beloved German grandmother. She used to make them for us when we were children. I hadn't thought about those joyous memories in years. The Tastes of Europe seemed to wrap me in warm hugs and nutrition for my soul. Or maybe, it was just the wonderful wine that provided the warmth.
“Do we really want to travel in hermetically sealed popemobiles through the rural provinces of France, Mexico and the Far East, eating only in Hard Rock Cafes and McDonalds? Or do we want to eat without fear, tearing into the local stew, the humble taqueria’s mystery meat, the sincerely offered gift of a lightly grilled fish head?
I know what I want. I want it all. I want to try everything once.”
